We are seeking a Senior Category Manager to join their dynamic team to drive strategic growth and category management.

The Senior Category Manager will be responsible for overseeing category growth strategies, analyzing market trends and developing insights to influence decision-making across our client’s product portfolio. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep experience in working with syndicated data and a strong understanding of the CPG industry. This is a hybrid role, with the expectation to be onsite three days per week at their Northern Chicagoland office.

Senior Category Manager Responsibilities:

• Drive category growth by developing and implementing data-driven strategies aligned with company goals and market trends
• Utilize syndicated data (e.g., Nielsen, IRI) to track market trends, competitive performance and consumer behavior to create actionable insights and strategies
• Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Product Development teams to align category strategies with product innovations and promotional activities
• Build and maintain relationships with retail partners to influence category management initiatives, optimize product placement and support joint business planning
• Monitor and report on category performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring strategic objectives are met
• Provide guidance to junior team members and foster a collaborative team environment

Senior Category Manager Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field; MBA preferred
• 8+ years of category management experience in the CPG (food) industry
• Proven experience working with syndicated data sources such as Nielsen, IRI or SPINS
• Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with key account management and retailer relationships is a plus
